This is interesting, a new Shared Space concept is being tested where the pedestrians and cars share the road with no signs. barriers, etc . This is pretty different from the way we think about stuff today. What do you think about this concept?

Don’t hold your breath. I just noticed the project page on WSDOT site. It has a design phase starting in Sept 2017 and going for over 2 years. Construction starts in 2020? This doesn’t make me happy as I drive this one daily.

Check out this crazy new interchange coming to Lacey. We talked about this just a couple years ago. It’s pretty clever.
Anyone who sees suspicious charges on their bill is asked to call WSDOT for a refund
Really? You know over 3300 drivers were charged double, but you don’t want to auto-refund those people? You expect people to contact you for a refund?
This is pure laziness, and lack of customer focus. If you cared about the commuter, you’d do the work to validate people were refunded. The company running the tolls should step up.

Looks like initial engineering is getting ready to start on this project. I can’t help but wonder though, the timeline calls for final design by 2017, construction in 2018 to start and completed in 2020.
I know I am a software guy, and I don’t really get the scale of these projects, but often they seem like more red-tape than actual progress.
Why is WSDOT reconstructing the I-5 and SR 510 interchange in Lacey? To accommodate planned development adjacent to the interchange, the City of Lacey developed preliminary plans for a new I-5 and SR 510 interchange. The city was key in obtaining funding from the State Legislature as part of the Connecting Washington Transportation package

Yikes.. this is no good. Walls collapsing? Glad nobody was hurt.
A portion of a retaining wall has collapsed in a tunnel that leads to the Metro Transit base in Shoreline.

I know there are a lot of concerns about Bertha, and these stories never seem to end. We, like many other regions globally, have had delays, cost overruns, etc. I think this is more aligned with the bidding process than it is the poor planning. (of which we have a lot)
The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) says it expects to lose $78 million because of the two-year stall of tunnel-boring machine Bertha, according to a letter from the state project team to insurers.

Seattle’s most prolific restaurateur, Tom Douglas, has said that his 19th restaurant, the Carlile Room, is most similar to the Palace Kitchen, his best eatery.
OK, OK.. this isn’t traffic related, but still a good story! Lots of good eats in Seattle, here are some you should check out.

As more and more people move further out, this is becoming a challenge. I wish we had more runs that went to Seattle… but alas, it probably won’t happen.
Check out the upcoming measures in Snohomish County.
Voters will need to look to the bottom of the Nov. 3 ballot to find the proposition to raise the sales-tax rate by 0.3 cents per dollar in much of Snohomish County to pay for improvements to Community Transit.

This is a beautiful road. I do get that all traffic funds don’t go towards pure congested areas.. If we need to send some to other areas, this is definitely worthwhile.
There is still fourteen miles of the Mountain Loop Highway along the Sauk River, that is not paved. It has long been a discussion to pave this final portion of the loop between Barlow Pass and the White Chuck River, but funds have been detoured every time. It seemed like a lost hope until the Oso Mudslide of March 22nd 2014
